Role Overview
Goldstrom is a global, integrated physical precious metals trading and investment company headquartered in Singapore. We have offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Dubai, Lima, Abidjan and Accra. We provide clients with solutions for physical trading, financial trading, mining, logistics, storage and refining. Goldstrom’s operations cover every aspect of the precious metals supply chain, providing our clients with an end-to-end solution for all of their precious metals’ requirements.
We are seeking a General Manager for Goldstrom Côte d’Ivoire (GS CI) to lead the establishment of Goldstrom’s in-country operations, with full accountability for commercial performance, governance and operational delivery. The role will drive business set-up, scale trading activities, and ensure alignment with Group strategy and standards. The role is full time, based in Abidjan, may require occasional international travel within the country, and with a dual reporting line to the Managing Director of Goldstrom Ghana and to the Group’s Global Head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Overall leadership and management of GS CI, with full accountability for performance, governance and operational delivery
Corporate Governance & Compliance
Ensure full adherence to corporate governance frameworks and local regulatory requirements
Oversee all statutory obligations, board reporting, and compliance processes
Maintain robust internal controls and audit readiness
Financial Management
Implement and oversee GS financial management and accounting processes within CI
Manage banking relationships and in-country treasury operations
Drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and cost control
People & HR Management
Implement and oversee GS HR policies, processes and standards within CI
Lead workforce planning and execution of the company’s recruitment strategy
Drive performance management, employee engagement and organisational culture
Operational & Trading Management
Lead the implementation and execution of GS trading and operational strategy in CI
Oversee trading plans, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives
Ensure effective security, risk management and compliance across all activities
Manage end-to-end logistics operations, including planning, execution and optimisation
Short to Medium-Term Objectives:
Establishment of Abidjan Operations
Lead the full set-up of the Abidjan office, ensuring operational readiness
Recruit and onboard key leadership and operational staff
Implement core systems, controls and standard operating procedures
Regional Expansion Delivery
Plan and execute the expansion into additional office locations in the country
Oversee the establishment of new offices and operational infrastructure
Lead the set-up of foundry operations, ensuring compliance, operational professionalism and efficiency
Implement full trading operations, including all associated processes and controls
Candidate Profile
Fluent in English and French at business level (mandatory), with the ability to operate effectively in a bilingual, cross-cultural environment.
Strong financial management and accounting experience, ideally within trading, commodities, or a related commercial environment.
Proven track record in project delivery, with the ability to lead, build and manage high-performing teams in a growth-stage setting.
Demonstrated exposure to commodities, financial markets, or investment products, with a strong commercial mindset and interest in trading and client-facing activities.
Experience operating in emerging markets or building operations from the ground up is highly advantageous.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements within Côte d’Ivoire or similar jurisdictions.
Demonstrated experience managing full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation.
Proven ability to establish and scale operations, including office set-up, systems implementation, and process design.
Experience managing banking relationships, treasury functions and in-country financial structuring.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, external partners, and regulators.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate autonomously and drive business growth in a new market.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently within-country and regionally as required.
